You will survive. Out of my 3- 1 graduated, 1 is in his senior year and because he is special ed has the option to stay another year or two and intends to do so. My middle one dropped out of 11th grade, but hey, 2 out of 3 ain't bad right?
Do you pack him a lunch each day? Try putting a note in each day with something funny written on it along with a reminder to bring everything home. Or maybe print out pictures of funny things or things he likes such as a favorite cartoon character that you photoshop with a comment about bringing home his work book, homework book and folder. If its of interest to him, he may remember. Oh, or a reward system. A sticker every day he brings it all home. So many stickers gets a reward. Nothing elaborate, maybe a special snack or 15 minute later bedtime on the weekend.
